Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about working with me? Take a look at the questions that I get asked most frequently.
Who are you?
My name is Jenii Lowe and I am a freelance copywriter based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Is Obsidian Content Creation just you?
Yes, just me!
What services do you offer?
I provide copy and written content for websites; blog posts; advertising campaigns; sales letters/emails; press releases; leaflet/brochure text; lead magnets as well as proofreading and editing. This is in no way an exhaustive list, so if you need some words for any purpose, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! For more information about my services, please check out my services page.
Can I see some of your previous client work?
Absolutely! Please check out my portfolio.
What do you *not* do?
I don’t “make websites” or “do SEO,” but I do put together the words for your website which play a part in good search rankings. When I create content that I know is going to be used on the web, I check keyword densities and the placement of key terms for best effect, along with creating title tags and meta descriptions as standard. I don’t copyright things for a living either, or do anything relating to intellectual property; copywriting and copyright are two completely different disciplines, they just sound similar!
Why choose you rather than going through an agency?
Freelancers’ rates are often cheaper than going through a middle-man, and messages can get misrepresented or outright lost when dealing with a larger team. Seeing as I am a lone wolf, my reputation is everything, so I am dedicated to making sure you are completely satisfied – anything less impacts on my livelihood.
How much do you charge?
That depends on the project, the amount of research involved, the deadline, and any extra requirements. I’m happy to offer a free consultation over phone, email or Skype. Quoting is also totally free and without obligation, so please just drop me a line and we can go from there.
What does a copywriter do?
A copywriter writes promotional text for advertising, marketing and publicity purposes. We write things like the text (and often the script) on TV ads; sales letter copy; and the wording for print advertising campaigns like billboards and posters. The digital revolution has seen an increase in the services that a copywriter that can offer; such as crafting text for websites, blogs, sales emails, social media, and for software and apps. Wikipedia, that stalwart of reliable information, has these surprisingly informative pages on the definitions of copy and copywriting.
Why is it called “copywriting?” Does it mean that the text is copied from elsewhere?
No – anything but! It is called copywriting because it’s written in order to be copied or reproduced in the media.
Why did you choose to call your company “Obsidian?”
Because I like the name! Obsidian is a distinctive, glossy, black volcanic rock that is often used in jewellery and ornaments. My logo is inspired by an ancient obsidian spearhead – a tongue in cheek reference on my part that a good writer gets the point across.
I am not sure whether I need a copywriter, what should I do?
Weigh up your needs, preferences and budget and get in touch. I am more than happy to advise you.
